The Mission style came to popularity in California, beginning in the 1890s, and soon spread to the rest of the Southwest and Florida.
Distinctive features include a Mission-shaped dormer or roof parapet, as well as stucco walls and a low-pitched red tile roof.Arches and twisted columns accentuate spaces.
Like other Spanish forms, tile roofs and stucco exteriors are typical. Large porches supported by square columns are also prevalent.Undulating parapets and dormers with quatrefoil windows are the telltale markings of a Mission home.
